Welcome to Green Acres, an eco-community nestled in the pastoral landscape of Merrills Cove in southeast Asheville, near the Blue Ridge Parkway. Here the vision of a net zero energy community is being carefully cultivated.

The hallmark of Green Acres eco-community is sustainable design. Each home incorporates state of the art design elements such as passive solar construction, natural lighting, salvaged and recycled building materials, super-insulated structures, geothermal heating and cooling, photovoltaic solar panels, and energy efficient lighting. The result is a comfortable, healthy built, and functional living space.

In addition, the Green Acres incorporates permaculture techniques such as large scale composting, organic vegetable gardens and orchards, and edible landscaping, designed to enhance a healthy self-sufficient lifestyle.
